Human Cloning
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. The term is generally used to refer to artificial human cloning, which is the reproduction of human cells and tissue. It does not refer to the natural conception and delivery of identical twins.
There are many benefits and disadvantages of human cloning and its technology. It includes the following potential benefits for human beings. The first benefits would practicably used as a replacement of your beloved family member who is about to pass away. With the human cloning technology, we can make a copy of our beloved ones and make them accompany with us for a longer time. The second benefit is that we can use the technology to create genetically identical to donor organs such as kidney, liver, heart and cornea in order to transplant. Because the organ was taken from the identical tissue that we created, therefore the possibility of repulsive effect of the organ will decrease in this case. The third benefit is that people who have contributed a lot to the world can be cloned. Such as Albert Einstein, if we can clone such an intelligent man, the welfare of the society may possibly be going to be beyond our imagination. What’s more, the world will be more peaceful and stable because of the cloning of the wise and kind-hearted leaders and presidents. It can reduce the violence among the politics. The forth benefit is that we can clone more and more labors to do the dangerous jobs such as mine or explore the oil field. Furthermore, we can clone an army with powerful soldiers if we have to deal with the military issue, none of our family would be harmed if this technology will be practiced in our life. For the development of the society and the pursuit of the technology, human cloning is become an important issue in this generation and in the future.
Serious problems may occur in the world because of the cloning technology too. The human right is the priority. It is unethical to practice the human cloning for 3 reasons.
First, the embryo that is cloned deserves a life. It’s human, its emotion, feelings and ambition of life should be taken into consideration. Once it is created, the right of it appears also, and we can’t imagine how they suffered if their lives are being taken away by us, the so-called “Creators”. They are an independent life; therefore, their rights should be respected in the same way as we are. In this way, the way that we created a human and take away his organ or body tissue for organ transplanting is exploiting their human rights undoubtedly. In other words, it is no different from murdering.
Second, it is unethical and cruel to end their lives even after nurturing the embryos and raise them up to teenagers or adults. Furthermore, how do we explain the world they are doomed to live and shall we educate them or just treat them like the animals?
Third, if the human cloning is ill and about to die, we will have to spend time and cost money to cure them and clone another human cloning to save their lives or abandoned them and to decide whether they will stay alive or not just like the flawed products which are dumped by the factories. In this case, we need to make the decisions but they are all have the problems that we should deal with. Trying to save their lives will cost a lot of resources and that is to say, we need to pay more expense. But if we give up to save them that would be another issue of human right that is controversial.
Beside the controversial issue of the human right, the other disadvantage we need to be concerned of is that what if the process of human cloning is failed which means that the thing that we created does not turn out to be a human; instead, it may become something like Frankenstein. We cannot predict whether the gene will mutate or not because we are not one hundred percent sure that we are entirely familiar with the technology of human cloning. The unpredictable result is not the problem we can easily control.
The last but not the least, we mentioned that human cloning can clone the great men who contribute significantly to this world but to the contrary, the bad and evil men will be cloned too such as Hitler. Besides, the cloning army may become the most harmful weapon because they are countless and the country without this technology will not be safe anymore. That is to say, some powerful countries controlling this technology will easily become the dictator in this world.
In our opinion, we know we have the ability to practice this technology, we are just not entirely sure if it is completely safe. Nor is public opinion on board with the prospect. Yet, we can’t say it won’t happen. But if human cloning ever does become legal, we can expect some wilderness.
Who clones whom? Let’s say you clone yourself, should your clone, in turn, be allowed to clone him or herself. How could you possibly say no? And at what point do you think you can control him or her? Don’t they have their free will to make their own decision? The moment you chose to reproduce through human cloning, you will have to expect that it may not be the only genetic version of yourself. The law in the future may possibly allow your cloning to reproduce another version of him or her. Who will be the original one then? All in all, we disagree with the human cloning. Not only because the safety but also the issue of the human right.
