Human Cloning
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. The term is generally used to refer to artificial human cloning, which is the reproduction of human cells and tissue. It does not refer to the natural conception and delivery of identical twins.
There are many benefits and disadvantages of human cloning and its technology. It includes the following potential benefits for human beings. The first benefits would practicably used as a replacement of your beloved family member who is about to pass away. With the human cloning technology, we can make a copy of our beloved ones and make them accompany with us for a longer time. The second benefit is that we can use the technology to create genetically identical to donor organs such as kidney, liver, heart and cornea in order to transplant. Because the organ was taken from the identical tissue that we created, therefore the possibility of repulsive effect of the organ will decrease in this case. The third benefit is that people who have contributed a lot to the world can be cloned. Such as Albert Einstein, if we can clone such an intelligent man, the welfare of the society may possibly be going to be beyond our imagination. What’s more, the world will be more peaceful and stable because of the cloning of the wise and kind-hearted leaders and presidents. It can reduce the violence among the politics. The forth benefit is that we can clone more and more labors to do the dangerous jobs such as mine or explore the oil field. Furthermore, we can clone an army with powerful soldiers if we have to deal with the military issue, none of our family would be harmed if this technology will be practiced in our life. For the development of the society and the pursuit of the technology, human cloning is become an important issue in this generation and in the future.
Serious problems may occur in the world because of the cloning technology too. The human right is the priority. It is unethical to practice the human cloning for 3 reasons.
First, the embryo that is cloned deserves a life. It’s human, its emotion, feelings and ambition of life should be taken into consideration. Once it is created, the right of it appears also, and we can’t imagine how they suffered if their lives are being taken away by us, the so-called “Creators”. They are an independent life; therefore, their rights should be respected in the same way as we are. In this way, the way that we created a human and take away his organ or body tissue for organ transplanting is exploiting their human rights undoubtedly. In other words, it is no different from murdering.
Second, it is unethical and cruel to end their lives even after nurturing the embryos and raise them up to teenagers or adults. Furthermore, how do we explain the world they are doomed to live and shall we educate them or just treat them like the animals?
Third, if the human cloning is ill and about to die, we will have to spend time and cost money to cure them and clone another human cloning to save their lives or abandoned them and to decide whether they will stay alive or not just like the flawed products which are dumped by the factories. In this case, we need to make the decisions but they are all have the problems that we should deal with. Trying to save their lives will cost a lot of resources and that is to say, we need to pay more expense. But if we give up to save them that would be another issue of human right that is controversial.
Beside the controversial issue of the human right, the other disadvantage we need to be concerned of is that what if the process of human cloning is failed which means that the thing that we created does not turn out to be a human; instead, it may become something like Frankenstein. We cannot predict whether the gene will mutate or not because we are not one hundred percent sure that we are entirely familiar with the technology of human cloning. The unpredictable result is not the problem we can easily control.
The last but not the least, we mentioned that human cloning can clone the great men who contribute significantly to this world but to the contrary, the bad and evil men will be cloned too such as Hitler. Besides, the cloning army may become the most harmful weapon because they are countless and the country without this technology will not be safe anymore. That is to say, some powerful countries controlling this technology will easily become the dictator in this world.
In our opinion, we know we have the ability to practice this technology, we are just not entirely sure if it is completely safe. Nor is public opinion on board with the prospect. Yet, we can’t say it won’t happen. But if human cloning ever does become legal, we can expect some wilderness.
Who clones whom? Let’s say you clone yourself, should your clone, in turn, be allowed to clone him or herself. How could you possibly say no? And at what point do you think you can control him or her? Don’t they have their free will to make their own decision? The moment you chose to reproduce through human cloning, you will have to expect that it may not be the only genetic version of yourself. The law in the future may possibly allow your cloning to reproduce another version of him or her. Who will be the original one then? All in all, we disagree with the human cloning. Not only because the safety but also the issue of the human right.

Group essay 1
Third World Poverty
Around the world, in rich or poor nations, poverty has always been present. Almost half the world –over 3 billion people– live on less than $2.50 dollars a day. It is shocking to learn that 640 million people in the world live without adequate shelter. 400 million have no access to safe water. 270 million have no access to health services. Poverty is a big issue, affecting a large majority of the world’s people and nations. Why is this? Is it enough to blame poor people for their own predicament? Is it because they’ve been lazy, made bad decisions, and are solely responsible for their place in life? What about their governments? Have they pursued policies that are actually harmful to successful development? Such causes of poverty and inequality are no doubt real.
History is a big cause of the poverty in third world countries. Many of the poorest nations in the world were former colonies, slave-exporting areas and territories from which resources had been systematically extracted for the benefit of colonizing countries. For most of these former colonies, colonialism and its legacies have helped create the conditions that prevent many people from accessing land, capital, education, and other resources that allow people to support themselves adequately. Because of these barriers, poor nations are stuck with poor resources that do not help with the country’s development.
Nowadays, globalization has become more and more present in our everyday lives. With the increasing interconnectedness promised by globalization, also comeglobal decisions, policies, and practices. These global decisions are usually influenced and driven by the rich and powerful, such as the leaders of rich countries or presidents of multinational corporations. In the face of such external influence, the government of poorer nations and their people are often powerless. As a result, a few get wealthy while the majority struggle. This causes the inequality gap between the rich and the poor to grow larger day after day. The increasing poverty of the third world countries has caused a wave of non-globalization voices and the anti-West hegemonyperspective.
In poor nations, lack of education is a big issue that causes a vicious cycle of poverty. A large majority of said children do not have access to basic education because of inequalities that originate in sex and financial issues. These children find themselves on the margin of the education system, and do not benefit from learning that is vital to their intellectual and social development. Because of their lack of education, illiteracy among parents, unemployment, and illness multiplies the risk of non-schooling and the drop-out rate of kids throughout the country. Undeniably, many children from disadvantaged backgrounds are forced to abandon their education due to health problems related to malnutrition or to work to support the family. Said children are then made to work at child-labor factories that pay far less than minimum wage, or even worse, sold to child trafficking as sex slaves. This causes a vicious cycle amongst the country; unless a lucky someone finishes their education and successfully breaks the cycle.
While living a life without woes, we often forget about the people in poorer nations who live off only $2.50 dollars a day. We take our water and food for granted, while many people don’t even have access to clean, drinkable water, let alone food to waste. When we are complaining about how boring the classes we take in school are, there are people out there can’t even recognize A to Z. Therefore, there are NPOs trying to improve the situation, and the UN is also focusing on this problem. Maybe we don’t have the ability to help them, but we can cherish what we have nowadays, and pray for the world to become better.

Final exam: Compare and contrast
Compare and Contrast
It
has been said, “Not everything you learnt is contained in books.” That is to
say, we gain knowledge from everywhere. In this big world, there are lots of
things to learn, we can either read from the books or learn it from our
experience.
While
we are strolling in the library, we can find various books from history to astrology.
The books contain the knowledge of tens of thousands of people. We can gain
knowledge from the book. Math, Science, Psychology, we can find almost
everything that we can think of from the books, even how to cook. By reading
the books, we can learn what others have experience, because the things that
are written in the books are the very thing which the writer wants to tell the
readers. Therefore, we learn the knowledge that has been experience by others,
we are learning from their experience. There are some of things that we can’t
learn from life experience, such as calculus. This kind of hard subjects that
needs to be calculated carefully is rarely used in our lives, but we still need
to use it in some professional fields, such as science.
However,
we are the one who is going to practice the knowledge that we learn. We can
also gain knowledge from our daily lives. Reading a book may not be so necessary.
For example, a baby can neither read books nor understand what you tell him to
do. But careful the things you do, children will see, and learn. As what we
have learnt in the Confession by Augustine, he said that when he was an infant,
he cries when he has the desire for something, he screamed for it. And when he
finds out he can yell for his needs, he learned that he can tell people what he
needs by getting their attention. There’s another example of learning from
living experience. I’ve never seen my grandmother cooking with a recipe, but
she can always make a table of delicious food. I wonder why she can do it, and
she told me that, “The more times you cook the better they taste, and no recipe
is needed.” If the dishes this time are too salty, she will remember the amount
of salt that she has added and she will put less at the next time. This is what
we call experience. What is written in the book may not be the best way for us.
The taste of the author of the recipe may be different from us, so we need to
try again and again to see what’s the best thing.
In
my opinion, both learning from the book and gaining the knowledge for life
experience is important. Perhaps the best way is to combine our knowledge from
books and life experience. We can make what we read from the books into
practice to see if the knowledge fits us. It’s because that what we read from
the books is the experience of others, it may not work on us as perfectly as
the writer. Therefore, we can try to use the knowledge from what we read, and
if it fails, we can fix it and make it the right way that is suitable for us.
The most important is we learn therefore we live. It’s not a shame for us to have
failure, what matters the most is that we get better each time we fail. We
study more carefully from the book when we fail the test, and we make it right
the next time; we are more cautious of our lives when we make mistakes while
practicing some skills. Knowledge is everywhere, in the books and everywhere
around us.

Compare and Contrast: Material and Non-material happiness
In the
bustling city, people are now getting busier. Living in a fast pace seems to give people a large pressure. It becomes
really hard for people to enjoy the life, the happiness is lessening. The
modern lifestyle demands people to be active and communicative; more and more
brands gently hint or directly tell the customers that their products can make them happier. But in
my opinion, happiness lies within ourselves, and the material goods can only
bring us temporary satisfaction. People’s
opinions about whether the non-material happiness makes them satisfied
or not varies from person to person. Therefore the discrepancies between these
two types of happiness must be pointed out.
Material
goods, often seen as the most available avenues to happiness, are relatively easy
to obtain; the only problem which may prevent people from taking an item into
possession is the price of it. Considering that mass-culture endows material
goods with abstract meanings, buying products are almost equivalent to obtaining
those qualities, one’s personality, or other values which these goods
symbolize. When we buy an expensive thing, we tend to feel good about
ourselves. And when we got people’s attention with the product we bought, we
are even happier. Material goods stimulate people to seek easy decisions. At
the same time, the non-material sources of happiness like-friendships, sense of
humor, and sense of beauty-don’t have a exact price compared to their simulations;
Therefore, we cannot purchase a non-material happiness, but only experience
them. This makes it difficult to obtain.
Material
goods are as easily lost as possessed:Losing its function, loss, being stolen, and other
misfortunes easily affect the material welfare of an individual who connects
their happiness only with items they have. At the same time, non-material
sources of happiness can’t be lost so easily; It happens only when we lose our
memories or go through some life obstacles to change in a bad way. For example,
we bought a bracelet for the Mother’s Day’s gift. Mother may be surprised and
happy at the moment when she received it, and she carries it every day and show
it off to everyone she knows. Indeed, she is happy and the happiness can last
as long as she possesses it. What if she loses it someday, when she’s not
seeing it anymore, she will forget it. At the end, the happiness would fade
away.
Even
though material items can make our lives easier to extent, connecting one’s
happiness to possessions would be reckless. Material goods are easier to
obtain; however; they are only simulations in comparison to the original
concepts they imitate. Intangible benefits are more difficult to obtain, as one
needs to learn them and develop them as habits; however, this fact facilitates
their inalienability and constancy, compared to material goods which are
easily-alienated. Therefore, while possessing
material goods and using the benefits they provide, people should strive for developing
inner way of happiness.
Definition: What is a shopaholic?
Do you think about going shopping every
day? Do you shop for yourself every day or week? Does the impulse of buying
things always comes after you? If yes, then you are a shopaholic.
There
was a movie called “Confession of a shopaholic”.
The girl I the movie is addicted too shopping. When she walks by the shopping
mall, it seems that the model is talking to her, luring her to buy things. She
started to imagine how the dress will look on her, and the dress is glowing in
her sight. “you will look gorgeous in that dress, your friends will envy you.”
The voice came from nowhere will sneak into her
brain persuading her to buy things. “Yes! I’ll definitely buy this
dress! I’ll regret if I don’t!” she will say it to herself, and walk into the
store and purchase it.
A
shopaholic usually has a lot of credit cards. They seem to be obliged to buying
things. It’s the source of their happiness, and by possessing the item, they
feel satisfied. Regardless of having enough money, shopaholic makes up
different reasons in order to buy things, even the thing that they don’t need.
Therefore credit card plays an important role in their lives. With a credit
card, they can satisfy themselves first, and worry about the reality
afterwards. “Limited Edition” is the bomb that makes the shopaholic explodes.
They have a tendency to possess the thing which is limited. Holding a “limited
edition” Prada bag makes them a star in the world of shopaholic. Not only woman
can be a shopaholic, but also a man. Woman may be crazy about bags and clothes,
or anything! Man, are usually obsessed about more expensive things such as cars,
watches, and leather shoes. Shopaholics are proud of themselves having the
ability to own the limited item, no matter how much it is, they convince
themselves to buy it.
We
cannot judge if being a shopaholic is right or wrong, yet it’s definitely a
crazy way to manage our money. It’s acceptable if we have the economic ability
to satisfy the impulse of us to go shopping; if not, then this problem should
be deal seriously. Consulting a psychologist may be a good way. A shopaholic
increases the GDP of our country; a shopaholic has a happy life satisfied by
material things; a shopaholic can send you a lot of gifts because they bought
it before considering if they need it. They just want to buy things, and that
makes them happy. Are you a happy shopaholic?
